A new workshop for solid oral forms, which will be able to produce up to 200 million pills a year, was launched today at the SANTO plant in Shymkent.
The workshop is launched to implement long-term contracts for the supply of drugs with a single distributor for the purchase of drugs "SK-Pharmaceuticals." Such contracts with domestic pharmaceutical manufacturers are concluded by the single distributor as a state support of Kazakhstan production, thus guaranteeing a ten-year market for Kazakhstani preparations.
In total, the plant plans to start production and begin deliveries of 215 names of medicines under these contracts, and 50 of them are already supplied to hospitals for free treatment of Kazakhstanis in the framework of state-guaranteed medical care.
Participation in the state order, state support and created favorable investment climate allowed the company to continue the implementation of the largest investment project in the history of the domestic pharmaceutical industry. According to Izhi Urbanets, general director of JSC "Khimpharm", the company is moving forward towards the goal - building an innovative pharmaceutical industry in Kazakhstan. Izhi Urbanets said "This is the third since 2011 new workshop at the plant" SANTO ", built in accordance with the international quality standard GMP".
Within the framework of the Polpharma Group investment project, modern production of medicines in ampoules, the production of infusion solutions in bags and bottles, two shops for the production of antibiotic powders have been launched in Shymkent, and the finished goods warehouse and a research and testing center and a quality control laboratory have been modernized.
To launch a new workshop, 13.5 million dollars were invested. The total cost of investments planned to 2020 exceeds $ 108 million, of which $ 70 million has been spent to date.
It is noteworthy that the opening of the new production takes place on the eve of the celebration of the 135th anniversary of the plant. The Shymkent plant is the oldest operating pharmaceutical plant in the EEA countries and one of the oldest in the world. The enterprise was founded in 1882, a multi-stage development period has passed - from the production of the drug santonin on the basis of the endemic wormwood for southern Kazakhstan - to the leading manufacturer of substances from plant raw materials for the needs of all pharmaceutical plants of the former Union. Also, the plant was one of the main suppliers of technical morphine for the needs of the front during the Second World War. After 1993, the plant was transformed into an AO and proceeded to the production of ready-made medicines. Thus, the company began implementing a strategic decision to ensure the country's drug and national security.
Representatives of the governments of Poland and Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Health, the single distributor of SK-Pharmaceuticals, investors, as well as colleagues and partners from sister enterprises of the domestic pharmaceutical market took part in the festive event.
